Round 9 inch, .65 caliber smoothbore barrel; two ordnance marks towards the rear center of the breech and a crown over 5 stamed on tang. Flat lock with swan-necked cock and single line border. Crudely engraved on tang Dublin/Castle and crude crown over GR cypher in center, no ordnance mark. Brass furniture differing slightly from British made light dragoon pistols with flat triggergaurd and finial, buttcap with bulbus protrusion, no crown stamped inside triggerguard bow. Walnut stock with relief carving around barrel tang; stamp behind sideplate, appears to be a crown over GR; Brass tipped wooden ramrod. Heavier and of different form than British examples.
Serial number on pistol is WC-1860, which indicates it was issued in West Cork.
