Commemorative plates commemorating the imperial visit of Tsar Nicholas II & Tsarina Alexandra for their state visit to Paris in 1896, with a medallion portrait of the Tsar with historical vignettes and decorations to border, maker’s mark of  by earthenware manufacturer Utzschneider & Compagnie in Sarreguemines (Alsace – France)  and hanging holes to rim of base, 21cm diameter.

They are decorated with portraits of Czar Nicholas II Romanov, Emperor of Russia, and Czarina Alexandra Feodorovna, in Art Nouveau style.

A rare and an amazing part of late 19th century Russian history.  What came in the years ahead changed Russian and the world forever.
